5 Powerful Reasons the Democratic National Convention Shapes America’s Future

With COVID making the Democratic National Convention 2020 into a virtual event, this week’s convention was the first time that Biden acknowledged his acceptance as the candidate for president of the Democratic National Convention personally. Biden would have been greeted in a lavish manner and welcomed by Democratic hopefuls that he will win another term following the path of the previous presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton

It was the strategy until July 21, which was the day Biden declared that he was making good on his pledge to become a “transitional” leader, and also endorsed his vice president Kamala Harris to take his position. Run against me. Make a statement and be the president. I’m going to challenge you at the convention,”” he said, clearly angry.

This Monday Biden faces an “historically unusual situation,” declared Thomas Schwartz, presidential historian at Vanderbilt University.

“He is a single-term president who was sacked from his ticket by the top leaders of his own party, former House Speaker Nancy] Pelosi, Obama, as well as [Senate Majority Speaker] Schumer as well as [House Speaker Hakeem] Jeffries. They are now being asked to give an enthusiastic endorsement for his vice president,” Schwartz told VOA. “It isn’t taking Sigmund Freud’s insight to know that Biden might have uncomfortable emotions.”

Therefore, their motivations are in sync, and they are able to display the united front.”

When asked by reporters on Friday what his thoughts were for Democrats, Biden answered simply, “Win.”
